Why i believe Henry will sign new contract

As most fans in the country i'd be happpy to see the back of Thierry Henry. Especially me as i am a Spurs fan.

However i dont think Henry will leave Arsenal. As much as i dont like the thought, i think he'll end his career there. Dont get it twisted though, i dont think he will stay because he's loyal, but because he's a chicken.

Yes, a chicken. Why you ask? Heres why...

Thierry Henry is currently a Superstar at Arsenal. He's got all his teamates looking up at him on his high horse. Even his manager licks the ground he walks on. He's practically begging him in public! Why would some one want to leave that behind?

Mr. Henry has just broken Arsenal's all-time record as the clubs top goal-scorer. That means no matter what he does from now until the end of his career, he'll go down as a legend at the club. Maybe the best player Arsenal have ever had. That also means that he will be loved by the Arsenal fans forever. Why would someone wanna leave that behind?

Henry is 'The Main Man" at Arsenal. Vieira had the guts and left leaving that seat free, who got it without consideration? Thierry Henry, you guessed it! He's the big fish in the small Arsenal pond. Why would someone wanna leave that?

What im trying to say is that Henry is a 28 year old striker, who is The Man at his current smallish club. If he was to leave Arsenal and join Barca, he'd lose all that.

He wouldnt be the man who gets the captains armband as soon as the captain is out. He wouldnt be the one who's name got chanted out loud even after missing an open-goal. He wouldnt be the one who was looked up at by his teamates. His manager wont lick his.... Well you get what i mean.

Look at players who left Arsenal and bigger clubs. Anelka, Overmars, Petit and the list goes on and on. They didnt exactly write their name on their club's Hall Of Fame wall did they?

And so Henry will look at all this stuff before deciding whether to stay or leave Arsenal and he'll realise the risks of leaving for a bigger club. And after doing so he will 'chicken out' and sign a new Arsenal contract to be on the safe side, ending his career as "The greatest and most loyal Arsenal Player in recent memory" when infact, and deep down Henry will know, that he was nothing more than a fame chasing 'coward'.

Let's not forget the Wenger link either. Wenger brought him through the youth system at Monaco. Henry then went to Juventus and was crap. Then left for Arsenal and Mr Wenger for 10M and "voila", career saved; legend etc. He's loyal to Wenger as he's the manager that made him the player he is, and under (the few) other managers he's played for has been average to good.

At 8:03 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

yea but money could tempt him, i reckon he'll walk if ARSEnal have a shit season which they will

At 8:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

There's no evidence here that he's a coward, just the opinion of a Spud who's bitter because Henry is better than any player you've ever had.

At 8:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It is definitely Wenger who does it for Henry. He's never really shined for France either, even during recent years.

He'll go to Barcelona - anyone seen the interview with Ronaldinho, where he stated, that he'd asked Henry (at the FIFA world IX awards) to come and play alongside him abd Eto'o... he wouldn't say what Henry said - sounds like goodbye...

anyway - what's he got left at Arsenal - I agree there's nothing to suggest he's a coward, that's the Mat Le Tissier reason for staying at Southampton, he has all the domestic trophies he needs from the prem, and only really needs to add the Champions League to his healthy medal collection, so why not let him go, after everything he's done for the club, he'll leave as a legend and go on to attempt to win the one thing he has never had a real chance of winning!

Oh + Money

You may be right and may be wrong. However, what can you expect from a fan who has been watching shit at White Hart Lane for over 30 years. Most of my family are Spurs fans and the envy pours from their skin. You are exactly the same. I don't care whether you beat Arsenal or end up higher this year because it will only be a blip! Do me a favour, get a life and watch Brentford or Millwall, that's about your level.

Anon.

You reckon you can make cheap playground insults to drive Henry out. Clearly, he is considering the future, but whatever the outcome of his deliberation he has been an absolute diamond for us.

However don't be surpised when he's knocking the ball into fucking your bunch of losers over the at the Grove next season.

Generally your argument's shite because on your reasoning. What about Sol? Would you like to congratulate him on make the brave and right decision - he could have made the cowardly decision to stay at a mickey-mouse outfit like Spuds, couldn't he? But he's not stupid.

urrhhhh...Thierry Henrys will always be a legend at Arsenal FC whether he leaves or not....talking of all the people that were not chickens....Overmars, Petit, Anelka...how good are their careers now ? So do you think they made the right decision? They’re not chickens I guess in your opinion...but I’m sure you would have something negative to say about their careers since….? It’s a no win situation…..why don’t you just appreciate the quality Henry has brought to the premiership, rather then call him silly names such as a chicken....

At 9:03 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You aint got a response to the Campbell point. Because on your rationale there must be about twenty players at *fuck* Sperz who if they had any guts, ambition should be trampling over each other to get out of there. Cos the most they're going to achieve at shite hart lane is a Carling cup appearance and back route entry to the Uefa cup through the fair play league.

god what silly comments.

TH14 is loaded, this is not about money.

The simple fact is, th14 is a winner, and he want's to win things. The simple reason that he is not signing yet, is that he wants to ensure he ends his career playing for a club that is capable of both domestic honours, and hopefully the Champions League.

The simple question is, can Arsenal attract the players needed to make this push?

Clearly Chelski and their dirty blood money roubles have an eye on domestic superiority. Wenger broke Manu's hold, a couple of times, I'm convinced with even all the money Chelski have, he can break them to.

The problem here is it may be in one season, and one alone.

Personally, I think the new stadium will release the funds to enable us to compete, as Manu did. i.e if we need to go and buy a granny shagging forward every year like Rooney, then we will be able to.

The only players we want at our club are genuine players, who want to feature in 30 + league games a season, and not just join for 90k a week and a heated bench...

As for spuds, well, the super intelligent chairman there wanted to move to the olmpic stadium, shame they didn't let them... It was always going to be an 80,000 seater stadium for the competition only, then reduced to 25,000, which in all fairness, is probably the attendance they can expect in 3 or 4 years time..

See you are nothing!!!!

Arsenal have looked Shite without Viera and Henry. Viera is a class player who is doing very well at Juventus and very happy he left you cluless twats. As for Henry dont look good him not signing a new contract does it. Like Viera he's class and will want to prove that point, and Barca is the perfect opportunity to do this. Who's goona score goals after that...Reyes? Bergkamp? who? My mate who's a gooner said you're gonna sign F Torres when Henry leaves and spaniards are crap in the prem...hahaha happy days for the spurs COME ON YOU SPURS!

Henry will leave because Arsenal are in a slight decline. Step aside because its spurs turn. There is enough evidence in the young players to suggest they can be a real force in 2 or 3 years time. These players are improving every game but that does not mean they will reach the levels to make spurs great gain. BUT from what I have seen I think there are many reasons to be very optamistic. Robinson, defoe, carrick, mido, king, dawson, and probably lennon have what it takes. If we can add to them or maybe others like jj routeledge and huddlestone improve we will be a force soon enough.

At 10:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I always find it funny that all arse fans suggest that we should support a different club!

Is it because Arse supporters used to be Manure supporters and Liverpool supporters before that!!!!!!

Taken from Sky Sports:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed at the club's Annual General Meeting that he was interested in signing three of Tottenham's current stars.

The Frenchman, responding to criticism of overlooking English talent in the transfer market, revealed his admiration for Jermain Defoe, Paul Robinson and Michael Carrick.

The England international trio were targets for Wenger before they headed for White Hart Lane but he was unable to conclude any of the deals.

Exciting striker Defoe and midfielder Carrick were both viewed as possible additions during their time at West Ham while current England number one Robinson was considered as the long-term option at Highbury when he was leaving Leeds United.

Spurs eventually won the chase to sign the trio as they continue to recruit young players with a view to building a squad capable of challenging for honours.

The funniest thing about that is the continual use of the word "small" in relation to Arsenal. If Arsenal are small, what exactly does that make Spuds?

hahahahahahaha

Going bk to the twats comment about scumbell, he doesn't even look like half the player he was at spurs!!
I as a life long spurs fan would be sad to see the back of Henry, due to the fact that i believe that there may possibly be an exodus of class acts all going in the direction of Italy and Spain (both over rated leagues). This would hinder the deelopment of our great league!!
i also believe we now have a better midfield than ARSEnal- Flamini? Fabregas? who! in comparison Carrick, JJ, Davids, Mendes and now Lennon!!
Come on you spurs only good times ahead!!

Arsenal the 'small club' have won 3 titles & 4 fa cups in the last 8 seasons - what have u spuds won?

Shitenham's biggest achievement in the last decade is being above us in the league for a fortnight

With 3quarters of the season to go!

Do any of you jokers think for one second you will be anywhere near the Arsenal at the end of the season?

Just curious...

At 12:30 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The arrogance of arse fans is astonishing, it's the reason everyone is looking forward to their downfall.

At 12:39 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I sort of agree (even being a goone) wouldnt agree with how its worded but I get the gist, its a big risk leaving a place your comfortable at, admired, guarenteed a first team place

Also you say vieira had the guts to leave, I think if you checked he was sold, because after the cup final said he was staying (not always true from footballers) but then arsenal agreed to sell, which is something we hadnt done in the past when he had wanted to go even more than this year

also if arsenal are a "small pond" then what are spurs? a puddle?

At 12:45 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Henry will stay if arsenal qualify for the CL and dont have a disasterous year because he likes it in england (prob partly for the reasons you said) he likes arsenal and aw for giving him the chance, he will only leave if he doesnt see the club moving forward or showing any ambition (may not even need to be in the transfer market, just some reassurences)

also you say he goes missing in the big games, this is a theme which has appeared from somewhere which is total crap, for arsenal he has scored countless times vs Chelsea, United, You Lot (if that can be classed as big) Liverpool in the unbeaten season when we had just gone out the CL and the FA Cup and a hyat trick

I would definitely save my energy for cheering the team on this saturday with man city. Go Arsenal.

"go arsenal"? - let me guess you're not English so just like 99% of the other arsenal posters on here have never been to highbury.

Anyway have a look at the table... and what a shame Wenger didn't buy Robinson eh?

Well i've read all the comments since i last checked up on the site and i have to say...Arsenal fans are clueless.

Your arguments are based on what we've done in the last 10 years. We've underachieved, get over it!

All your doing is steering the argument away from the subject: Will Henry leave and why?

You guys have learnt two things to call spurs fans: Spudz and Shite Hart Lane and you repeat them over and over again..

Boring!

At 12:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wrong!!! you haven't underachieved in the last ten years. You haven't won the league for four times that span.

Totshit has always been and always be a byname for 'big time Charlies'.

At 1:53 PM, Blogger Begeegs said...

I am an Arsenal fan and I think what Henry is doing is very smart for the obvious reasons - making certain that the club doesn't dill-dally around with signing players like they did with Baptista, and obviously it will be his last contract. I also wouldn't be surprised if Wenger was somehow involved in stirring this up as well.

I don't agree about the big fish-little pond scenario or the 'chicken' talk as you would be suggesting that no matter how great/crap Arsenal do this year or in the years to come, Henry will be content and I don't see that any of his comments or body language suggest any of that.

Vieira was heading for an injury prone season which is why he was sold. He is injured now in the less physical Italian league right now. Also, he seemed to go missing quite a bit in a lot of matches last year, so it was a good piece of business to sell him. What was infinitely stupid was not replacing him and not having backup possibilities when Wenger's initial targets didn't work out.

Also, you chastise Arsenal fans having a go at you when you did so yourself with the post itself with the comments of calling Henry a 'chicken' and 'little pond' and expect that no one will get offended. Sure Wenger made him what he is at Arsenal, but loyalty can only go so far.

Henry is a great player for Arsenal and a great player for the Premiership and it would be a real shame to see him leave.

At 2:06 PM, Blogger Spurs Blog Team said...

To anon 1.53

The difference is i didnt go around swearing at you guys. You did.

You say you sold Vieira huh? Wrong! He wanted to go to Real the year before and he wanted to leave. Are you telling me now that if Vieira said i wanna stay that Wenger would of sold him. There would be more chance of you guys winning the CL!!

At 2:17 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

it's a shame the fucking spuds like giving stick but dont like getting any in return.you make conversation boring just like you do in football

At 2:34 PM, Blogger Begeegs said...

The fact is the Arsenal sold him to Juventus. There isn't any quotes suggesting that Vieira wanted to leave or that Wenger was keen to sell him, well except for newspaper speculation for every season for the past 4-5 years, but of course, you know, don't you.....

Since the CL is a knock out competition, any team has a chance to win as Liverpool demonstrated last year and Porto the year before. Argue what you will, but any team has as good a chance as anyone else.

No, you didn't swear, but you may as well have calling one of the best players in the world a 'chicken'. It's not the best way to start an argument.

At 4:32 PM, Blogger Kim Stian Ervik said...

If I was Henry I would see it as a risky move tomove to Juventus / Barca / Madrid.

Why shouldnt he? It is a part of human nature. Also he loves Wenger and the team, no to mention his girlfriend is a London girl.

What I would be thinking in his situation would be ot get south asap to get to a better climate, but thats a different story :P

But is Arsenal a small club? It is one of the clubs with most fans in the world.

Henry a chicken ?

then DAvids is one as well. Which other club would he really make it at? cept for spurs of cos. they have so little quality that any quality is good quality.Even largely living on past reputation, edgar is still way too classy for spurs.

cant be helped. spurs having a slightly less mediocre season and suddenly the fans think they are the greatest team in teh world., and hence freely commenting on teams way above them in class and quality.
